Kiki’s Delivery Service Gets Live-Action Film Adaptation

According to Sports Hochi and Sports Nippon newspapers, it has reported that Eiko Kadono’s popular children’s novel series Majo no Takkyubin is getting a live-action film adaptation next spring.

“Grudge” director Takashi Shimizu will direct the film and 16-year old newcomer Fuka Koshiba will play the role of the young witch Kiki.

Koshiba, an accomplished figure skater, debuted last year in drama series Iki Mo Dekinai Natsu as sister of Rurouni Kenshin actress Emi Takei.

Majo no Takkyubin has been known due to Studio Ghibli’s 1989 anime film adaptation Kiki’s Delivery Service. Earlier, Ghibli has denied any reports of anime film getting a live-action adaptation.
