HERO Face Off 2013 Cosplay Guildelines and Mechanics

During the Blast Off: Toycon 2013 Launch event at Resorts World Manila, HERO TV  has released its guidelines and mechanics for the upcoming HERO Face Off 2013.

There are still 3 cosplay categories:  Kid Squad Category (ages 12 y/o and below), League of Heroes (Group Cosplay with an age range of 13 to 40 y/o) and Face off Category which is the World Cosplay Summit Philippine Preliminaries Final Qualifier.

Kid Squad Category (Individual)

  1. Open to age group 12 years old and below on or before the date of Hero Face Off 2013
  2. Requirements needed are as follows to complete registration as participant of Hero Face Off 2013:
    • Accomplished entry form (can be downloaded in http://www.myheronation.com) – to be brought to the event venue
    • Biodata with photo (preferable studio shot) – to be brought to the event venue
    • Hard and soft copy of the image of the characters to be portrayed /cosplayed – to be brought to the event proper
  3. The costumes can be from Japanese anime, tokusatsu/sentai manga, and video games, as well as Western anime like Marvel/DC universe, etc.
  4. Cosplay costumes are to be hand-made to give emphasis on creativity.
  5. Stage time should not exceed 30 seconds
  6. The competition is rated PG-13. Do not use material or any act that exceeds the rating. No dangerous weapon is allowed to enter the event premises. Sexy and revealing costumes are highly discouraged.
  7. Media such as TV programs, internet homepages, newspapers, magazines, etc., may use your pictures and images captured at Hero Face Off event. On these occasions, compensation will not be furnished.
  8. After the Hero Face Off event, images/footage of cosplayers, photographs, program broadcast, intemet homepages and DVDs etc., will become a property of Creative Programs, Inc. and Hero TV. Compensation will not be furnished for such images used by the media.
  9. Registration and submission of the needed require-ments at the Hero Face Off event is from 10am to 12nn. You may ask questions, make clarifications by coordinating with Anime Alliance Philippines. Email them at info@animealliance.asia
  10. Criteria for Judging

    • Performance (level of performance, inventiveness, entertainment) – 40%
    • Costume (design, faithfulness to the original character’s costumes) – 40%
    • Fidelity to Original (level of faithfulness towards the original story and character) – 20%
  11. A participant is held liable for any physical damage and injury that may happen in the event, most especially during alloted stage time, due to negligence caused by the participant’s stunts and props being used.

League of Heroes Category (Group)

  1. Open to age group 13-40 years old  on or before the date of Hero Face Off 2013.
  2. Participants to form a group with a minimum of 3 member and a maximum of 10 members. Only qualified first 10 groups to successfully register on-site will be accepted.
  3. Requirements needed are as follows to complete registration as participant of Hero Face Off 2013:
    • Accomplished entry form (can be downloaded in http://www.myheronation.com) – to be brought to the event venue
    • Biodata of each group members with photo (preferable studio shot) – to be brought to the event venue
    • Hard and soft copy of the image of the characters to be portrayed /cosplayed – to be brought to the event proper

The Face Off Category: The World Cosplay Summit Philippines Preliminaries Final Qualifiers

PRIZES

For the Kids Squad Category, the Champion will receive a cash prize of Php15,000, a plaque of recognition and a special gift pack while the first runner up will also receive a plaque of recognition, a special gift pack plus Php10,000 cash prize.

For the League of Heroes Category, the winning group will receive Php20,000 cash prize, a plaque of recognition and a special gift pack while the runner up group will also receive  a plaque of recognition, a special gift pack and Php10,000 cash prize.

Two finalists will be chosen for the Face Off Category. The champions will each receive a Plaque of Recognition, special gift packs, cash of prize  Php20,000 and gets to fly an all-expense-paid to Nagoya, Japan for the World Cosplay Summit 2013 this coming first week of August.

Hero Face Off 2013 will be held at SM Megatrade Hall 3 on June 16, the third day of the biggest pop-culture event in the country, the 12th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2013.
