Rurouni Kenshin Movie Casts Tao Tsuchiya as Misao

Eighteen-year old Japanese actress Tao Tsuchiya was revealed to portray the ‘Weasel girl’ Makimachi Misao in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel movies.

Tsuchiya debuted as an actress in the 2008 family drama film ‘Tokyo Sonata’ and also cast in the 2010 ‘Ultraman Zero The Movie’ as Princess Emerana Luludo Esmeralda. She also portrayed Renge Hoshakuji in the live-action ‘Ouran High School Host Club’ TV series.

She auditioned for the Rurouni Kenshin sequels after being overwhelmed by the first movie last year.

Earlier, the movie cast Ryunosuke Kamiki and Yusuke Iseya to play the role Soujiro Seta and Aoshi Shinomori, respectively in the movies. The character Yumi Komagata will be played by half-Filipino actress Maryjun Takahashi. (See other cast here)

The two films “Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc” and “Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc” which covers the Kyoto arc will premiere next summer.
