The Japanese Ministry for Foreign Affairs has announced last March 27 that they are now accepting entries for the 8th International Manga Awards.
Aspiring manga artists must first fill up this application form and submit two printed copies of their manga works. The manga work must be 24 or more pages. It can be published and unpublished works produced within 2011 and 2014 and has not won in the previous International Manga Awards.
All entries must be received on or before May 31, 2014 at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General. Entries can be mailed directly to The Eight International Manga Award Executive Committee, P.O.Box MBE 310, MOF Kandaiwamoto-cho Building 1F, Iwamoto-cho 3-8-16 Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 101-0032, Japan. The best manga work will be awarded the Gold Award while the next three best will receive the Silver Award. The winners will be invited to Japan to attend the award ceremony for around 10 days as complementary prize. The award ceremony will be held in Tokyo on January 2015.
The International Manga Award was established in May 2007 with the aim of awarding manga creators who contribute to the spread of manga culture overseas and international cultural exchange through MANGA.
