Aside from weddings and the start of the rainy season, it is that time again when toy enthusiasts and hobbyist gather to attend the biggest pop culture event in the country, the Philippine TOYCON.
This year’s Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectible Convention 2014 will be held on the June 20, 21 and 22 at the Megatrade Hall located at the 5th floor of SM Megamall Bldg B. in Mandaluyong City.
On its 13th year, the event will feature various activities related to anime, toy collecting, cosplay, comics, gaming and etc.

This year’s TOYCON will highlight the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics’ caped Crusader, Batman with a huge Batman display area, a life size Batpod, a kids’ activity area, exciting new Batman merchandise, and a gallery of art and collectibles of the Dark Knight Detective.
Also catch the Samurai X fever as Warner Brothers previews the Rurouni Kenshin live-action film trilogy Parts II and III with a display of original costumes from the sensational Japanese hit movie.
Get ready to be blown into space with Marvel’s latest epic movie, The Guardians of the Galaxy, with awesome displays, sneak peeks at the movie’s trailers and behind-the-scenes, special fan activities, and the Marvel roster of superstar artists like Leinil Yu, Carlo Pagulayan, Stephen Segovia, Roy Allan Martinez and Kim Jacinto.
The TOYCON also gives you the biggest gathering of toy collections with the following prominent toy exhibits –
The G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary exhibit, Philippine Lego Users Group exhibit, the Coca-Cola Collectibles exhibit, One Sixth Republic and Pinoy Sixth Scale collectors exhibit and the awesome Toycon Gallery exhibit area which showcases the best of the local toy group community.
Fans of a galaxy far, far away unite with the 10th Anniversary of the Star Wars 501st Philippine Outpost. Enjoy a parade of your favorite Star Wars characters, Stormtroopers, Jedi Knights and droids and, of course, the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader as they invade the Philippine ToyCon stage.
The TOYCON also features the biggest in Cosplay with the Philippine Finals of the World Cosplay Summit happening at the event and TOYCON’s own Cosplay Universe unleashes a barrage of individual and group cosplayers led by Asia’s Cosplay queen, Alodia Gosiengfiao.
Gaming takes center stage also at the TOYCON with the biggest game companies, like Level-Up, War Gaming, Cherry Credits and Uplink releasing the latest versions of their top games….
Apart from the above-mentioned, TOYCON 2014 also announces its first Toycon Play Night Party on June 20, first day of TOYCON.
FIRST TOYCON PLAY NIGHT PARTY
In the previous TOYCON events, the first day is usually called the ‘Retailer’s Day’ as there were no program and attendees are focus on buying toys and stuff but this year’s TOYCON, they will try it to be different.
The party will start at 5PM and it will feature music DJs, cosplay party, live bans, stage games, costume party contest and celebrity guests.
Azrael Coradilla, one of the organizers of TOYCON, in a reply that they have invited some foreign guests into the event. Whether it be cosplayers or artists, details will be revealed soon.
Alodia Gosiengfiao, apart from ‘leading’ the Toycon Cosplay Universe, will host the World Cosplay Summit Philippine Finals on the last day of TOYCON 2014. Gosiengfiao will also releasing her own bag line for the event. You can buy them at her booth located at Megatrade Hall 3 infront of the stage.
Her schedule for her meet & greet; and photo session are out and she will be showing her newest cosplay as Mikasa Ackerman of Shingeki no Kyojin on June 21.
NEW TVC and GUESTINGS
The new TV cpmmercial for TOYCON 2014 is out online and it will shown in selected timeslots in ABS-CBN, one of the event’s media partners and sponsors. We can expect also a series of TV and radio guesting in the network to promote TOYCON.
Azrael Coradilla mentioned that there will be a TV guesting at ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda next week.
