Hi-Ka-Ri Band, Junior New System Dance Crew Wins 2014 Jpop Anime Sing and Dance Contest


Lucena-based three-piece project band  Hi-Ka-Ri and Manila-based dance crew Junior New System won the recently concluded 2014 J-Pop Anime Sing and Dance Contest Grand Finals last July 19 at the SM Cinema Centerstage, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Hi-Ka-Ri band is composed of Kitsi on vocals, Nico Sevilla on piano/keyboards and RemmarMatanguihan on percussion. They performed Ren’ai Shashin by Ai Otsuka which is the movie theme song of Tada Kimi wo Aishiteru (Heavenly Forest) at the contest.

The Junior New System is multi-awarded dance group based in Sampaloc, Manila. They danced in the tune of the Voltes V no Uta remix.

For the dance contest, the runner-up was awarded to Team Mars while a special award was also given to Team KMB Reverse. For the singing category, the second place winner went to  Mitch Arceo while Tiger Lily was awarded third place. Seiza got a special awards from Bandai, Famous Youtube singer Vinar Takumi was also given the Hero Choice Award. Tie for Toei’s Favorite Award were Tiger lily and Sharia Maine Gonzales.

The winners were given big prices such as LED TVs, cameras and other special prizes from the sponsors.

The 2014 Jpop Anime Sing and Dance Contest is organized by the Embassy of Japan in celebration of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month this July
