Fans trooped yesterday afternoon at the SM Megamall Event Center in Mandaluyong City to see in person the director and stars of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin movie sequels.
Present at Red Carpet Procession were Rurouni Kenshin cast members Takeru Satoh who portrayed the titular swordsman Kenshin Himura in the film, Emi Takei who played Kaoru Kamiya, Munetaka Aoki who played Sanosuke Sagara and Director Keishi Otomo. The procession took a while as they entertained their waiting fans and interviewed by the media.
Before the arrival of the VIPs, a short program featuring cosplayers as Rurouni Kenshin characters walked down the stage. Some fans also won premiere night tickets through a contest.
During the event, Director Otomo and the cast members thanked the fans for their overwhelming support to the movie.
The cast also surprised the crowd when they greeted them in Tagalog. Takeru Sato said “Kumusta kayo? Ako po si Takeru Satoh. Masaya ako makita kayo.”
Munetaka Aoki greeted the fans with “Magandang gabi po.” while Emi Takei who is first time attending a movie premiere outside of Japan said “Salamat po.”
After the program at the Event Center, they went straight to the premiere night of the Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno at SM Megamall Cinema 9.
Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno opened on August 1 in Japan and will premiere on August 20 in Philippine theaters.
