Update: “Kimi No Nawa” to finally release in PH

(Update: 12/12/2016)  Japanese hit anime film “Kimi No Nawa.” (Your Name) will  finally be released in Philippine cinemas this week. The movie will be shown starting December 14 according the SM Cinema website. More here.

(Update: 12/2/2016) The earlier reported release date of anime movie “Your Name” (Kimi no Na wa) is still pending.

According to the Viewers Choice Philippines Facebook page, this is”due to pending issues with the Metro Manila Film Festival that affected movie booking schedules.”

They also said to “keep on calling your favorite cinemas to convince them to book the movie the soonest.”

Pioneer Films has announced yesterday the Philippine release date for anime film “Kimi No Nawa” (Your Name.)

The movie will premiere on December 14 in local cinemas nationwide and it will be screened in original Japanese dub with English subtitles.

Kimi No Nawa. (your name.) is the latest Japanese animated film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai which premiered last August 26.

It is a story of a high school student in the rural countryside, Mitsuha Miyamizu and a teenager living in Tokyo, Taki Tachibana as their dreams and lives start getting entangled when a comet approaches Earth. One day, Mitsuha wakes up as Taki. Taki one day wakes up as Mitsuha. For a few days they sporadically switch bodies until one afternoon they lose complete contact.

A large movie poster for Japanese live-action “Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso” (Your Lie in April) movie is seen at the Trinoma Mall Cinema area.

Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Naoshi Arakawa, the live-action movie will premiere on December 7 in Philippine theaters.

According to official Facebook page, “Your Lie on April” is a story of a genius pianist, Kousei Arima who lose his ability to play the piano after his mother’s sudden death. But, then he meets one violinist by the name of Kaori Miyazono. This care-free, independent, and sometimes short-tempered girl had an eccentric playing style that immediately fascinated Kousei. His once monotonous life was about to change forever.

“Code Geass” Anime Sequel Announced

A  new anime titled “Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch” ( Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection) was announced during a special 10th anniversary event last Sunday in Chiba.

The new project will take place few years after the conclusion of the “Zero Requiem” plan. According to the director Goro Taniguchi,  Lelouch from the previous anime is still the main protagonist of the new anime. The format of the project was not announced.

 

Aside from the new project, a trilogy recap movie with new scenes also announced.

Yuri manga “citrus” and “Netsuzou Trap” get anime adaptations

An anime adaption for yuri manga series “citrus” and “Netsuzou Trap NTR” are in the works according to manga news site, Comic Natalie.

Saburouta’s popular manga “citrus” follows the relationship between  Yuzu Aihara, a happy-go-lucky first grade high school girl  and her strict sister-in-law Mei Aihara.

Naoko Kodama’s Netuzou Trap -NTR- centers  focuses on the relationship
between two high school girls, Yuma and her beautiful childhood friend Hotaru. The series is confirmed to be released next year with Hotaru’s boyfriend Fujiwara to be voiced by Daisuke Ono, and Yuma’s boyfriend Takeda by Ryota Oosaka.

 

Live-action”Your Lie In April”movie slated in December

Pioneer Films has announced yesterday that live-action “Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso” film is slated next month in Philippine cinemas. The movie will premiere on December 7, 2016.

Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Naoshi Arakawa, it is a story of Kousei Arima, a prodigious pianist in which since the death of his mother, he has been unable to hear the sound of his piano. Kosei then meets Kaori Miyazono through childhood friend Tsubaki Sawabe. Kaori plays the violin and has a free spirit. Since meeting her, Kosei is able to face the piano again, meanwhile Kaori holds a secret.

The movie stars Suzu Hirose as Kaori Miyazono and Kento Yamazaki as Kousei Arima.

 

 

 

AKB48 Team 8 Fan Meeting in Manila announced

The official Facebook page of MNL48 has announced yesterday that AKB48 sub-unit Team 8 will be having a fan-meet next month in Manila.

The event will take place on December 3, 2016, 3PM at the Movie Stars Cafe, Seaside Blvd., SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City and it will feature an exclusive live show from Team 8, raffles, and  ‘high-touch’ (or high five) segments.

The event has limited slots only and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More details to be announced soon on their Facebook page.

Team 8 will also be performing at the Market!Market! Activity Center on December 4 as part of the  “60 Years of Philippine-Japan Friendship Celebration.”

Live-action Fullmetal Alchemist Movie’s Teaser Trailer released

Warner Bros. Japan has released the first trailer of upcoming live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie.

Fullmetal Alchemist is based on the popular manga series by Arakawa Hiroshi and it is slated to release for winter 2017. The movie will star Hey!Say!JUMP member Yamada Ryosuke as protagonist Edward Elric.

Official website and Twitter for the movie were also launched.

Live-action “Ghost in the Shell” Trailer released

DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures have released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action Ghost in the Shell.

Ghost in the Shell is based on Masamune Shirow’s cyberpunk manga of the same title.  It follows Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Scarlett Johansson will lead the cast as “The Major”, Pilou Asbaek as Batou, Takeshi Kitano as Chief Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet and Michael Pitt as Kuze.

The movie will premiere on March 31, 2017 in the United States.

AKB48 Team 8 returns to Manila

Japanese idol group AKB48 will be performing in Manila for the second time next month.

In the recent post of MNL48 Facebook page, AKB48’s sub-unit Team 8 will again perform live on December 4 at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Taguig City as part of the yearlong celebration of the 60th Philippine-Japan friendship anniversary.

The musical event is free admission and is organized by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and produced by Hallohallo Entertainment Inc.

Last year, the group was a special guest at the “Cool Japan Festival” held at Trinoma, QC, Philippines.

“Kimi No Nawa.” to screen in Philippine cinemas next month

Pioneer Films has announced  through CinemaBravo.com yesterday that anime film Kimi No Nawa. will be released in Philippine cinemas.

According to Facebook page Viewer’s Choice Philippines, Shinka Makoto’s latest hit film will hit local theaters next month, but no specific premiere date yet. The movie was also announced to screen in original Japanese dub with subtitles.
