Animax Asia reveals its “Same-Day-as-Japan” anime line-up for April 2017 

Animax Asia has revealed two same-day-as-Japan simulcast series premiering on channel for the month of April.

Premieres on 19 April, every Monday to Friday at 5.30pm.

Animax is available on SKYCable Channel 46, Cignal Channel 73, Dream Satellite TV Channel 07, and G Sat Channel 24.

‘BanG Dream!’ Vol. 1 to be available in PH bookstores soon

Shogakukan Asia Pte Ltd has announced last Wednesday (March 29) that Volume 1 of the highly-anticipated English-language release of Bushiroad Media’s “BanG Dream!” manga will be released on March 30 in Singapore.

After the launch in Singapore, the manga will also be making its way to bookstore in five other Southeast Asian countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and The Philippines. Shogakukan Asia is also exploring opportunities with overseas partners to the manga in other territories.

The BanG Dream! manga tells the story of 1st year high school student Kasumi Toyama, who is determined to start a band despite being an absolute beginner.

While the manga shares the same premise as the television anime series, the manga provides more comprehensive details to each character and features additional scenes not seen in the anime.

“Koe no Katachi” to be released next month

The play-date of the anime movie “Koe no Katachi” (A Silent Voice) has been unveiled.

According to SM Cinema website, the release date of the film is on April 15, 2017.

SM Cinema describes the movie as follows:

The story revolves around Nishimiya Shoko, a grade school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates, especially Ishida Shouya. It gets to the point where she transfers to another school and as a result, Shoya is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak to and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption.

Pioneer Films has previously teased that the movie will be released in the Philippines soon.

The film is based on Yoshitoki Oima’s manga of the same name.

Koe No Katachi was released in Japan on September 17, 2016.

HERO TV announces anime line-up for April 2017

Local anime cable channel HERO TV has announced last Thursday (March 30) its anime line-up for the month of April 2017.

The line-up includes Pandora in the Crimson Shell (April 21), Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya 3Rei! (April 28) and for HERO Theatrix, Samurai X OVA (April 23 and 30).

“Koe No Katachi” coming soon on SM Cinema

The official website for SM Cinema has listed “Koe No Katachi” (A Silent Voice) on movies to be release soon on their cinemas.

Pioneer Films has previously teased that the movie will be released in the Philippines soon.

The film is based on Yoshitoki Oima’s manga of the same name.

SYNOPSIS

“Suki Ni Naru Sono Shunkan O” gets PH release on April 5th

SM Cinema has announced last Wednesday (March 29) that local cinema chain will release “Suki Ni Naru Sono Shunkan O” (The Moment You Fall In Love) on April 5 in select branches nationwide.

Screening schedule will soon be available via smcinema.com.

The movie is distributed by Odex Private Ltd.

“Suki ni Naru Sono Shunkan O” is the second film based from Kokuhaku Jikko Iinkai ~Renai Series~ Vocaloid song project by HoneyWorks.

The film opened in Japan last December 2016.

“Konosuba” and “Haikyu!! S3” to air soon on HERO TV

HERO TV has announced last Monday that comedy fantasy anime “Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!” and third installment of sports anime “Haikyu!!” will air soon on the channel.

“KonoSuba”  is based on the comedic Japanese novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki of the same name. The first season of the series premiere in Winter 2016 while the second season aired in Winter 2017.

“Haikyu!!” is based on the shounen manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. The series ran for three seasons with latest aired in Fall 2016.

Cosplay Mania 2017: Cosplayer guests announced

Cosplay.ph has announced last Sunday, March 26 during Cosplay Carnival 2017 the cosplayer guests for the upcoming Cosplay Mania 2017.

Guests include Angie from Malaysia, Siutao from Hong Kong, Knitemaya from Australia, Hikarin from Canada and the cosplay duo Kong and Eki from South Korea.

Guests for the JAM concert will be announced soon.

Now on its 10th year, Cosplay Mania 2017 will take place on September 30-October 1 at SMX Convention Center Manila.

“Voltes V” returns to GMA 7 with new voice cast

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, GMA 7 has announced during channel’s noontime show “Sunday Pinasaya” that classic anime Voltes V is set to return starting next week.

The announcement also includes the new voice actors and actresses for the series.

The cast are as follows:  Derrick Monasterio as Steve Armstrong, Jak Roberto as Mark Gordon, Hiro Peralta as Big Bert Armstrong, Ken Chan as Prince Zardos and actress Bea Binene as Jamie Robinson.

Voltes V will air on GMA 7 staring March 27 at 8:25AM.

Ozine Fest 2017: Live performance ticket price revealed

Ozine Fest 2017 organizer Otakuzine Anime Magazine has announced the ticket price for the Manila live-performance of Mitsuko Horie and Takayuki Miyauchi.

Ticket price is worth Php350 and it sill be sold onsite on April 7-8, 2017 outside Megatrade Hall 2. The live-performance will happen on April 8 at SM Megamall, Megatrade Hall.

Takayuki Miyauchi is one of the well-known vocalist of Tokusatsu dramas notable for his top singles: Choudenshi Bioman, Uchuu Keiji Shaider and Kamen Rider Black RX while Mitsuko Horie is the voice behind the hit theme songs of Voltes V, Sailormoon and Doraemon.

Ozine Fest 2017 will happen on April 7, 8 and 9 at SM Megamall Megatrade Halls and it is organized by Otakuzine Anime Magazine in cooperation with TokuSpirits.

C3 and AFA join forces, events dates revealed

(PRESS RELEASE) SOZO, organizer of Anime Festival Asia events and Sotsu Co., Ltd, organizer of C3 events, have joined together to create “C3 AFA”. This new event aims to become the regional Cool Japan Event of Asia by developing an B2C event representing various Japanese content such as anime, characters, comics, game, music, novel and more.

The collaboration will bring the new contents to consumers who are already familiar to both the C3 and Anime Festival Asia brands. SOZO, part of the Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc group has been organizing Anime Festival Asia since 2008, bringing Japanese pop culture content to South East Asia countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Sotsu Co. Ltd is a Japanese powerhouse managing animated products such as the famed Mobile Suit Gundam series and producing animated and live-action programs.

Sotsu and SOZO will unveil the first installment of C3 AFA in June 2017 in Bangkok, continuing with the other cities which they already have experienced track records in, including Jakarta, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong between 2017 and 2018.

“Koe No Katachi” anime film gets Philippine release

Local film distributor Pioneer Film announced last Friday that anime film “Koe No Katachi” (A Silent Voice) will be shown in the Philippines. The film’s play date has not yet been announced.

The film is based on Yoshitoki Oima’s manga of the same name. Anime News Network describes the film’s story:

A deaf elementary school girl, Shoko Nishimiya, upon transferring, meets a boy named Shoya Ishida in her new class. Shoya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shoko, because she is deaf. As the bullying continues, the class starts to bully Shoya for bullying Shoko. After graduating from elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other… until later, when Shoya, tormented over his past, decides he must see Shoko once more. Shoya wants to make amends for what he did in elementary school and be Shoko’s friend.
