Infographic: A bigger and better Animax Carnival Philippines this October

Anime fans and cosplay lovers will once again converge for two days as anime cable channel Animax will hold again its biggest and most celebrated anime event this year, the Animax Carnival Philippines 2016.

Now on its fifth year, Animax channel’s signature event promises to be bigger and better that ever, highlighting the performances of four of today’s most successful artists from Japan live!

Animax Carnival Philippines 2016 will happen on October 15 and 16 at Halls 1 and 2 of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Ticket for the event are priced from Php299 onwards which can be used for two days. Ticket are now available via and in all SM Ticket outlets nationwide.

ANIMAX Asia to air Mekakucity Actors this August 18


In their press release, ANIMAX has announced that they will be airing Mekakucity Actors starting August 18 at 10PM.

A 12-episode anime series, Mekakucity Actors is produced by Shaft in collaboration with Aniplex of America and 1st PLACE. Based on Jin’s Kagerou Project, the series is directed by Akiyuki Shinbo.

After living in solitude for years, a NEET named Shintaro is led back into the outside world by a mysterious female character who infiltrates his computer and causes a breakdown. Desperate to fix his beloved computer, he heads to a department store and in one fateful moment he is thrown into a life of action and crime-fighting adventure.

A group of criminals break in and hold shoppers hostage. Among the crowd happens to be a group of teenagers who call themselves “Mekakushi Dan” (or the Blindfold Gang). Wielding powers using their eyes, they are able to stop the criminals from carrying out their evil plans and force Shintaro to join them.

Witness how this young man adjusts and flourishes in his new life this August in Animax.

Key’s original anime Charlotte airs on Animax same day as Japan


From the visual studio and producer that brought 2010 popular anime series”Angel Beats!”, Keys and P.A. Works is once again collaborating for the new original anime, which will air in July.

Charlotte will also air on Animax Asia same day as Japan starting July 4 at 12:30AM with an encore broadcast the following day at 8:00PM. It will air in Japanese audio, subtitled in English, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin and Thai .

Key’s co-founder Jun Maeda wrote the script and the musical score while fellow Key and “Angel Beats!” colleague Na-Ge(Tari Tari, Another) designed the characters.

The series also feature the voices of Kōki Uchiyama (Raku Ichijou of Nisekoi), Ayane Sakura (Tsubaki Sawabe of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso), Maaya Uchida (Rikka Takanashi of Chuunibyo ) and Takahiro Mizushima (Taichi Yaegashi of Kokoro Connect.)

Charlotte, rumoured to have been based on Maeda’s own early life, is set in an alternate world where a few children come into unusual superpowers upon puberty.  One of the colouful characters is Jōjirō Takajyō, who can move so fast he appears to be teleporting.  There’s also student singer Yusa Nishimori, who can communicate with the dead.  The children are enrolled into Houshinomi Academy, which has its own student council for guiding those who encounter problems with their newfound abilities.  

The protagonist?  Yū Otosaka, an ill-mannered first-year transfer who uses his ability to possess another person’s body for five seconds in order to cheat in his exams.  When Yū meets school council president Nao Tomori, the fate of these extraordinary children begins to unravel.  Will the youthful duo be strong enough to fight their destiny?

WHAT TO EXPECT: ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2015


Asia’s first anime channel ANIMAX is once again bringing back one of its most premier anime events, the ANIMAX Carnival Philippines on May 30-31, Hall 4, SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

With a fee of Php 200, ANIMAX promises a bigger carnival this year with more exciting activities such as special performances by renowned cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao, the Animax Cosplay Competition, exciting activities and sale of exclusive anime merchandise, and special guest performances from Japan.

There will be a special area for anime fans where they can immerse themselves into the Japanese culture. Event goers can also experience playing traditional Japanese games, folding Origami and try out some Japanese food from a variety of food stalls.

Cosplayers can show off their cosplay skills as the acclaimed Animax Carnival Cosplay Competition returns. The solo competition is set on May 30 while the group competition will be held on the second day. For more information, please refer to

This year’s guests are composed of pure talents, both local and international. Two of them were finalists from the recently concluded Asia’s Got Talent namely, Japan’s “Triqstar” and our local dance group Junior New System. “Triqstar” is known for mixing traditional Japanese Kabuki elements with new-age dance.

Famous Japanese tambourine master Gonzo will also grace the event while renowned international cosplayer Alodia Cosplayer will be performing.

ANIMAX brings ANIMAX Carnival back to the Philippines (Update#3)


Event page for ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2015 in SM Tickets website already unavailable. We were also informed by a person close to Animax that the earlier announced ticket price is still tentative.

We will update this article once there are official announcements from ANIMAX.


ANIMAX Philippines on their Facebook page teased that they are bringing something “big” this May in Philippines. The teaser features various Japan-related stuff while OO-kun, ANIMAX mascot is holding the Philippine flag.

Furthermore, an updated event list recently posted from the Facebook page of famous cosplayer and artist Alodia Gosiengfiao has revealed that she is going to ANIMAX Carnival Philippines this May 30-31 as a guest. Specific venue has yet to announced.

Gosiengfiao will also make a guest appearance at the 14th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention this June.

The first ANIMAX Carnival Philippines was held in 2004. The “Carnival” returned last December 9, 2012 at Robinson Place Manila. The event highlighted the ANIMAX Ani-mate search Grand Finals which was won by Rhianna Floresca.

Japanese singer May’n was supposedly to come in the second ANIMAX Carnival in 2013 but the event was cancelled due Typhoon Yolanda.

Correction on information on first ANIMAX Carnival


Details on the venue and ticket price of  ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2015 revealed. According to the official website of SM Tickets, the event will take place on MAY 30-31 at SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier in Taguig. Tickets are worth Php200 each, but not yet available online.


ANIMAX CARNIVAL Philippines 2015 will take place at SMX Mall of Asia HALL 4, not SMX Aura as earlier revealed by SM Tickets. According to a representative of SM Tickets, this was a technical error. SM tickets website was also updated.
