CONFIRMED: Japanese cosplayers Reika and Cheru going to Davao next year

Event organizer Ambox Davao has finally confirmed that famous Japanese cosplayer Reika will be coming to Davao next year.

Reika, along with her cosplay partner Cheru, will be at SM Davao for the World Cosplay Summit Philippines Mindanao Conference this February 20-21, 2016. She is set to judge the WCSPH Mindanao Qualifiers and perform onstage.

World Cosplay Summit 2016 event date announced


The World Cosplay Summit committee has announced the date for its next year’s annual international cosplay event. WCS 2016 will be held from July 29 to August 7 next year.

Along with the announcement, they also have released a two-minute trailer for event.

As of 2015, twenty-six (26) representatives from various countries around the world competed to become the World Cosplay Summit Champion. Team Mexico won this year.

WCS Philippines 2016 National Finals to be held in Davao

2015_08_wcsph_2015World Cosplay Summit Philippines committee, in a statement made on their official Facebook page, has announced that the 2016 national qualifiers will be held in Davao City.

Furthermore, schedules for the regional finals will be announced soon.


The WCSPH committee has previously announced that the NCR Qualifier for the competition will take place during the Best of Anime 2015 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia on September 20. The winning pair will be going to the National Qualifiers to determine who will become the Philippine representative to the 2016 World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan.

WCS 2015 Philippine representative Sarah Jane de Ocampo and Jennifer Ong were also winners of a qualifier in Davao before making it to the WCS Philippines Mindanao Qualifiers, then to the Nationals.

According to a letter posted on the World Cosplay Summit Philippines (WCSPh) Facebook page, Malacanang congratulates Philippine representatives, Jennifer Ong and Sarah Jane “SJ” de Ocampo for their participation on the recently concluded World Cosplay Summit Championships last August 1 in Nagoya, Japan.

President Benigno Aquino III further said that “Filipino cosplayers have gained much distinction in the international arena; your passion for your craft has resulted in the dedication, self-reliance, and attention to detail that mark people who are determined to grow”

World Cosplay Summit Philippines 2016 qualifiers already started last July 26 at Cagayan De Oro leg of the Mindanao Cyber Expo. NCR Qualifiers will take place at the Best of Anime 2015 this September at SMX Manila.

Team Mexico wins this year’s World Cosplay Summit

Team Mexico’s Juan Carlos and Shema Arroyo were crowned this year’s Champions in recently concluded World Cosplay Summit 2015 held last August 1 at Nagoya, Japan.

The Mexican cosplay duo were dressed as characters from Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. This is Mexico’s first win in the competition. They were won the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award, ANA Prize and the Journey Pad Award as well as the Nico Nico Award.

Second place was won by Italy represented by Manuel Capitani and Luca Buzzi while Team USA composed of Alpacosplay and Yummy Gamorah took third place finish. Italy also won the Laguna Tenbosch Award while USA won the WCS Executive Committee Award.

Other awardees includes Team Spain for the Cyperous Award for their wigs. Team Japan won the JOYOUS Award for the sound effects while USA got the Brother Awards for their amazing costumes. Livedam Stadium Award went to Team China while Hong Kong got two awards, the MobyBooks and H.I.S. Award.

Congratulations also to the first time participants, Philippines, Vietnam, Kuwait and Portugal.

Two NCR Teams advances to WCS Philippines Finals

Team Kanor and Pink Tilapia were the winners of the recently concluded Finals for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) Philippines NCR Qualifiers held last May 30 at the Toycon 2015 Grand Launch in the Newports Mall, Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

Both Team Kanor and Team Fink Tilapiaz performed a battle skit cosplaying characters from tokusatsu series Ultraman and Kamen Rider Ryuuki, respectively.


The two team advances to the WCS Philippines National Qualifiers to be held during HERO Face Off 2015 on June 6 at the Music Room, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The winner of the WCS Philippines National Qualifiers will be our official representative to the World Cosplay Summit Championships in Nagoya, Japan.

WHAT TO EXPECT: PH Toycon 2015 Grand Launch at Newport Manila

Few days before the biggest toy convention in the country, the 14th Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2015, its organizer, The Asian Comics, Toys and Hobbies Collective  inviting toy enthusiasts, hobbyists, cosplayers and the media for their “14th PH Toycon” Grand Launch and Press Conference.

The Grand Launch will take place this May 30 at The Plaza, Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila in Pasay City. Admission is free.

The one-day event will feature Panel Discussions, World of DC and Collectors’ exhibits which will be displayed for two days, merchandise booths and various games and prizes. There will be also previews of upcoming movies – Terminator Genesis, Jurassic World, Star Wars’ The Force Awakens and Antman.

The event will also host the NCR Qualifiers of the World Cosplay Summit Philippines.

The event is also a press conference that will detail what will happen in this year’s Philippine Toycon.
