Studio Ghibli Adapting Joan G. Robinson’s ‘When Marnie Was There’ Novel

Film distributor TOHO has revealed that Studio Ghibli will be adapting  Joan G. Robinson’s English children’s novel classic ‘When Marnie Was There’ (Omoide no Marnie) into an anime movie.

The movie is scheduled to premiere next summer and it will be directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who also directed 2010 anime movie Karigurashi no Arrietty.

SYNOPSIS
Anna, who is a shy girl, is sent to stay with an old couple in a village along the coast. She doesn’t open up to anyone and stays to herself. Anna then meets a strange girl named Mani. They become friends, but none of the village residents know about Mani’s existence. (Asianwiki)
