Two NCR Teams advances to WCS Philippines Finals

Team Kanor and Pink Tilapia were the winners of the recently concluded Finals for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) Philippines NCR Qualifiers held last May 30 at the Toycon 2015 Grand Launch in the Newports Mall, Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

Both Team Kanor and Team Fink Tilapiaz performed a battle skit cosplaying characters from tokusatsu series Ultraman and Kamen Rider Ryuuki, respectively.

The two team advances to the WCS Philippines National Qualifiers to be held during HERO Face Off 2015 on June 6 at the Music Room, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The winner of the WCS Philippines National Qualifiers will be our official representative to the World Cosplay Summit Championships in Nagoya, Japan.

WHAT TO EXPECT: PH Toycon 2015 Grand Launch at Newport Manila

Few days before the biggest toy convention in the country, the 14th Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2015, its organizer, The Asian Comics, Toys and Hobbies Collective Inc.is  inviting toy enthusiasts, hobbyists, cosplayers and the media for their “14th PH Toycon” Grand Launch and Press Conference.

The Grand Launch will take place this May 30 at The Plaza, Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila in Pasay City. Admission is free.

The one-day event will feature Panel Discussions, World of DC and Collectors’ exhibits which will be displayed for two days, merchandise booths and various games and prizes. There will be also previews of upcoming movies – Terminator Genesis, Jurassic World, Star Wars’ The Force Awakens and Antman.

The event will also host the NCR Qualifiers of the World Cosplay Summit Philippines.

The event is also a press conference that will detail what will happen in this year’s Philippine Toycon.

The 14th Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2015 will be held on June 19, 20 and 21 at Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall. Tickets are already available for purchase in all SM Ticket outlets nationwide and online at http://www.smtickets.com.

VIVA-PSICOM’s Manga Launch Event postponed

VIVA-PSICOM’s event launch for the Filipino version of Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan manga has been postponed.

According to report by Deremoe, VIVA-PSICOM decided to postpone the event launch due to “request from the people of Japan” however, they assured the fans that the release of the manga series is still in schedule for June.

The new schedule for the event launch will be announced on a later date.

The launch event was supposedly scheduled on June 6-7 at SM Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City.

WHAT TO EXPECT: ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2015

Asia’s first anime channel ANIMAX is once again bringing back one of its most premier anime events, the ANIMAX Carnival Philippines on May 30-31, Hall 4, SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

With a fee of Php 200, ANIMAX promises a bigger carnival this year with more exciting activities such as special performances by renowned cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao, the Animax Cosplay Competition, exciting activities and sale of exclusive anime merchandise, and special guest performances from Japan.

There will be a special area for anime fans where they can immerse themselves into the Japanese culture. Event goers can also experience playing traditional Japanese games, folding Origami and try out some Japanese food from a variety of food stalls.

This year’s guests are composed of pure talents, both local and international. Two of them were finalists from the recently concluded Asia’s Got Talent namely, Japan’s “Triqstar” and our local dance group Junior New System. “Triqstar” is known for mixing traditional Japanese Kabuki elements with new-age dance.

Famous Japanese tambourine master Gonzo will also grace the event while renowned international cosplayer Alodia Cosplayer will be performing.

The official Facebook page for the Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles has announced the tickets for the upcoming 14th Philippine Toycon 2015 are already available.

Tickets are worth Php150 each per person, per day and they can be purchased online via www.smtickets.com and SM Ticket outlets nationwide.

The 14th Philippine Toycon 2015 will take place this June 19-21, 2015 at Megatrade Halls, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

Furthermore, a launch event will also take place on May 30-31 at The Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila. Admission is free.

“Arpeggio of Blue Steel” Philippine movie release sets on May 27

The official Facebook page of SM Cinema has finally announced that anime movie Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova (Arpeggio of Blue Steel ~Ars Nova DC) will open on May 27 in selected SM cinemas nationwide.

The movie is SM Cinema’s “Cinexclusive”.

The July issue of Tech Gian magazine has announced that Muv-Luv Alternative spin-off light novel series “Schwarzesmarken” is getting an anime adaptation.

SYNOPSIS
The East German Army 666th TSF Squadron “Schwarzesmarken” (Black Marks) are a special-forces unit tasked with assaulting BETA forces through unconventional tactics; specifically, they target Lux and Magnus Lux to deny the BETA the advantage of ranged firepower. Their orders are given the topmost priority, such that it is common practice for the 666th to ignore allied distress calls that will result in deviation from their original mission, even if only for a short moment.

The 666th Squadron mostly operates MiG-21s, with their squadron commander Irisdena Bernhard piloting an MiG-21PF.

TOYCONPH released rules for 2015 cosplay competition

The official website for the upcoming 14th Philippine Toycon has released the rules and regulation for this year’s cosplay competition.

STARMARIE to perform at HERO Face Off 2015

Local cable channel HERO TV through their official Facebook page has announced that Japanese fantasy-idol group STARMARIE will be performing at the HERO Face Off – The Ultimate Cosplay Battle 2015.

The event will take place on June 6 at Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

They will also be performing at the Tokyo Cosplay Battle at Movie Stars Cafe, Mall of Asia Complex the day after.

STARMARIE was formed in 2008 and consist of 5 members: Hiroka Matsuzaki, Motoko Nakane, Nozomi Kishita, Shino Takamori and Kaede Watanabe.

The idol group has performed several times in the country.

New Fairy Tail movie and original video announced

During the “Fairy Tail 2015 Ryuuousai” event in Tokyo, it was announced that the anime series is getting a new anime film and an original anime video.

This is the second anime film of Fairy Tail. The OVA is based on Fairies’ Penalty Game omake by original manga author Hiro Mashima.

Furthermore, a new key visual was also revealed for the series’ Tartarus arc, which will begin on May 23.

What is going to happen at O-kun Fiesta this weekend?

This weekend will again be a busy day for event goers as PSICOM’s otaku lifestyle magazine, Otaku Asia will be hosting its first Japanese-inspired culture event, O-kun Fiesta! this coming Saturday, May 16 at Function Room 1, SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Themed as a school summer festival, the event will emulate the magazine’s sections of anime, food, fashion, music, games, culture and entertainment into a Japanese school festival.

Attendees can join various competitions such as toy photograpy, drawing, karaoke and cosplay contest. The organizers has also provided three dressing rooms and baggage counters for cosplayers attending the event.

The event will also feature the first kimono fashion show organized by Kimono PH.  There will be lectures about afterwards.

The winner of the Golden Ticket Awards for the Best Community Event, Talking Apple’s will be handling the maids and butler cafe of the event. They will be serving various anime-inspired snacks, such as coffee, iced tea, omurice, cookies and chocolate-dipped bananas.

The event will also host Cosplay.ph’s Cosplay Costume of the Year 2014. The top 10 finalists will be featured on Otaku Asia Magazine’s May-June issue.

Tickets are worth Php 100 each and it will be available at the event itself. Do not forget also the house rules being implemented at the event.

Cosplay.ph announces ticket-tier for Cosplay Mania ’15

Local event organizer Cosplay.ph has announced yesterday (May 11) the ticket prices for the upcoming Cosplay Mania ’15 event.

The ticket-tier will comprise of three prices, mainly Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The Bronze ticket, worth Php 198 for one day, will give the holder access to the “Dealers’ Hall” while the Silver ticket, worth Php 298, will give the  holder access for both the “Dealers’ Hall” and the Stage Area.

The Gold ticket, worth Php498 for one day, will allow holders access to all Halls, including the JAM Concert.  Ticket holders also have privileges to use the dressing room and baggage counter for free.

One can upgrade their Bronze and Silver tickets at the event itself with a corresponding fee.
